official information in this topic.

of Alicia. I also typed a lil article here: 'Iman is using her supermodel powers

recruted 18 celebrities, included Gwyneth Paltrow and Liv Tyler, to pose in African
tribal makeup. The campaign - shot by Michael Thompson - will be in magazines
this month; the original photos will be auctioned off, with 100% of the proceeds
going to the charity. "Each of us originated in Africa" says Iman. "When
you see celebrities from different racial groups declare their Affrican roots,
it's a powerful image'.

2007's The Nanny Diaries. And she's signed a deal with Disney to produce and star
in a remake of 1958's Bell Book and Candle. So we had to ask, Who has inspired

:: Cham was aksed in his latest interview how Alicia Keys came to be chosen as
the artist for his first single. Here's what he said: We were looking for someone
exclusive and you can't get more exclusive than Alicia Keys. We reached out to
her and her people and she was already feeling the song so it made it a little
bit easier for us. So we were keeping our fingers crossed that she was going to
do it. We did the video a couple of days ago and I'm so happy. I'm just so happy
to have her on the album she's so humble. She's probably the biggest female artist
in the whole world and to have her on your first single you can't ask for more
than that. You can read whole interview on this
page.

:: Singers like Alicia Keys and Kanye West have spoken out about it and now a
Glasgow jewellery designer hopes to bring "ethical jewellery" to the high street.
The equivalent of the anti-fur campaign for the bling generation, ethical jewellery
is jewellery where the materials used in it construction have been sourced from
countries or suppliers without questionable human rights or environmental issues.
It has become a big issue in the US and now Glasgow School of Art graduate Vivien
Johnston is bringing the concept to the UK. Read whole article on this
page.

:: From The Jamaica Observator: Alicia Keys is being styled, made up and her tresses
fluffed to perfection. There really isn't much time for the cosy sit down. But
the five-time Grammy winner is as gracious as can be and apologises that we have
to kind of rock 'n roll.
NMW: How do you feel about being in Kingston, Jamaica?
Alicia Keys: I am very excited about being in Kingston.
It is in fact my first visit as I was in Montego Bay the last time and didn't
make it over and so when the negotiations were complete and we found out in New
York that we were coming to Kingston we were excited and yesterday (at Sherlock
Crescent - Cham's home) was amazing. The love was for real and it felt so good
and I felt very comfortable. very much at home. So I love it and I have very fond
memories of it. I feel a connection of sorts.
NMW: Share with us some of your style tips and by the
way, we gather you saw today's (Tuesday's) Observer Page 2 and really loved it.
Alicia Keys: I saw it, thank you and it looks great.
My look is thanks to Ashunta Sheriff, my make-up artist. But I like to be relaxed.
I like to be in an environment that I'm comfortable in and usually that is some
place with people that I am comfortable with and that's why I use the people that
I've known for years. Like all these people that are with me now. The hair and
make-up team, all of them I've known for years and we have a certain understanding
that comes with that and out of that comes a certain comfort level.
Read whole interview here
and go to this
page to get more information about the Ghetto Story videoclip. I also added
3 images from the set of that video, check them out below.

:: After 10 years in the game, Cham is a baby no longer. The Kingston, Jamaica-born
reggae star is actually starting to get recognition in the U.S. with "Ghetto Story,"
an underground smash that gives a snippet of his life's hardships. "It's my biggest
hit ever," Cham, who smoked the clubs three years ago with the dancehall classic
"Vitamin S," said from Jamaica. Even some of the biggest names in the music industry
have become Cham fans. Alicia Keys recently laid down vocals for a remix of "Ghetto
Story," as did Akon on a separate version. For the Grammy Award-winning Keys to
get on his record was a welcome shock. "Yo, that's like a giant," Cham marveled.
"That link, I was on the road with Dave Kelly, my producer and close friend. He
told me, 'Yo, you're going to get Alicia Keys on the "Ghetto Story" remix.' I
was like, 'Are you sure?' Because she doesn't get on any and every project." Keys
obviously kept her promise and sang on the record. "What she's singing about surprised
me," he said. "That's real respect, 100 percent. I think she loved the record
for real. You can hear it in her voice and what she went through as a kid. If
you came through struggles, you're gonna feel it. You can hear the punch, the
pain. It's a beautiful thing. She's saying she ate white rice and honey. I never
heard of that before, but I'm going to try it. In Jamaica, when we had no meat
to eat with the rice, we ate white rice and butter." Cham's LP, Ghetto Story,
comes out August 15 and also features a guest appearance from Rihanna. Cham and
Keys just finished the video for the remix in Jamaica.

:: It has been five years since the release of Bob Dylan's last album, but any
notion that the 65-year-old singer might have lost touch with the contemporary
world is dispelled by the first verse of 'Modern Times', the opening song on his
new record. 'Thunder on the mountain, fires on the moon, There's a ruckus in the
alley and the sun will be here soon,' it begins, before quickly skipping to the
lines 'I was thinking about Alicia Keys, couldn't help from crying/When she was
born in Hell's Kitchen, I was living down the line/I'm wondering where in the
world Alicia Keys could be/I been looking for her even clean through Tennessee.'
It is not known whether Dylan really is a fan of the soul singer 39 years his
junior - ever the enigma, he has not discussed the new record yet. But the two
of them are thought to have met at the 2001 Grammy awards, when Keys was a five-times
winner with her album Songs in A Minor and Dylan won Best Contemporary Folk Album
with Love and Theft. Dylan also seems to have done his research - Keys was indeed
raised in the Hell's Kitchen area of New York. 'I just knew somebody had to be
playin' with me! How could such a legend know me? And bigger than that, want to
write about me? I haven't heard the song yet - it's top secret. But I'm crazy
excited about it and I'm honored to be on his mind.' Read
more.

:: While it sometimes feels like Alicia Keys has been around forever (in a good
way), it's actually been a mere five years since Songs in A Minor announced to
the world the arrival of a monumental talent. Platinum albums and multiple Grammys
later, she now has her sights set on Hollywood. MTV News' SuChin Pak spoke with
Ms. Keys about her upcoming film with Scarlett Johansson, "The Nanny Diaries,"
her strengths and insecurities and how Barbra Streisand is something of a role
model. Read it on Mtv.com
and you can download video interview from videos page.
Here are several caps from the set and interview.

:: Keep a Child Alive was founded in Mombasa, Kenya, in 2002 by Leigh Blake after
a mother and child walked into the AIDS Research and Family Care Clinic, a center
funded by one of Blake's previous campaigns, seeking anti-retroviral medicine.
The mother knew that without such treatment her son would die but, unfortunately,
due to the high cost of the medicines, the clinic couldn't supply the drugs he
needed. The mother had no intentions of leaving the facility without treatment
for her ailing son. Blake had compassion for the strong-willed mother and offered
to personally pay for her son's medicines. Word soon spread about Blake's good
deed and her friends and others, including Alicia Keys, wanted to help sponsor
children as well. Not long after that, Blake and Maz Kessler co-founded the Keep
a Child Alive campaign, allowing anyone to donate a dollar a day to provide the
anti-retroviral drugs to the children at the organization's treatment sites. Read
more and visit official KACA
site.

:: The New York Library is usually home to a hushed silence and book enthusiasts,
but on Monday night it hosted the cream of the fashion fraternity, plus a fair
sprinkling of Hollywood stars, including Scarlett Johansson and Alicia Keys. Dressed
in ultra-glamorous frocks, the Nanny Diaries co-stars were on hand to support
their favourite designers at the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America
awards event, which is known as the style equivalent to the Oscars. Scarlett was
looking every inch the starlet in a pretty, knee-length number from Calvin Klein,
while Alicia, who performed "The Way You Look Tonight" in duet with
John Legend, opted for floaty, floor-length Vera Wang. If you wanna read more

:: Alicia Keys did not have to come here, to this small town outside of Durban
on South Africa's eastern coast, where the infection rate from HIV/AIDS is believed
to be twice the national average: 40 percent of the people in this part of the
country are infected. But for the Grammy winning singer and songwriter, the opportunity
to come here and help build a clinic was reason enough to cross the ocean and
confront a seemingly insurmountable challenge. She came, she says, "To be
the voice of the people. To represent real people and real life, real struggles,
real pains, real joys, real things that are really there, you know? "I never
wanted to be caught up in all the fantasies and the frivolity," she said.
"You know, just, I never cared about that". Read full article here.

:: Alicia Keys made sure a New York City teen's high school prom was memorable
by giving her one of her red carpet dresses to wear. The star donated the dress,
a blue Tracy Reese creation that she wore to the NAACP Image Awards, to 18-year-old
Maloune Samuel. The singer worked with non-profit organization Operation Fairy
Dust, which collects previously worn dresses and gives them to disadvantaged girls.
Samuel was one of five winners of the group's essay contest. She says, "It's
like a dream come true. I feel like princess. I want Alicia to know how amazing
this was for me." Keys has some advice for Samuel's big night, "Have
fun, keep your head to the sky, and be safe." Samuel will wear the gown to
her prom at New York City's Washington Irving High School on June 2.

:: Even if you weren't invited to Oprah Winfrey's Legends' Ball, you'll be able

weekend in which 25 legendary black women and other guests gathered at the talk-show

and Katie Holmes. Oh, and well get a peek at Oprah's $50 million estate.

:: Alicia Keys says she hopes to follow in the footsteps of legendary entertainers
like Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand, who were lauded for both their acting
and music. For now, though, Keys' game plan is to tackle one at a time, so she
didn't do any music for her first film, "Smokin' Aces," with Ben Affleck.
But how about making some music for her second feature, "The Nanny Diaries,"
which stars Scarlett Johansson? "Probably not," Keys said Tuesday on
the movie's Brooklyn set. "You never know, but even with the other movie,
it wasn't about doing the music for the movie. I think later on I'll try getting
into acting as well as doing the entire soundtrack. But right now I want to focus
directly on the acting. Still, music isn't entirely on hold. She's already mapping
out her next LP. "I'm in the studio now," she said. "I'm actually
taking a different approach for this album. I'm taking the approach of writing
everything first, kind of old-school style. Before cats stepped in the studio,
the song was written, the music was done - that kind of thing. The idea of it
was already developed. I want to do that. "I want to write a lot, sit at
the piano a lot and get all these things out that I'm going through and experienced.
I just got back from Africa. I've been seeing things in my life that changed my
whole perspective on everything." Read the full story at Mtv.com.
