> Alicia posted a new message on her official diary! "When I was reading through the board the other day, somebody asked a question about how to deal with nerves. I was feeling that, and even more feeling your answers, because I know there are soooo many creative people on here. I liked seein how u handled nerves. I know that's one of the many things we all experience. Anytime, like when u go to a new place, or you're talking to a guy(or a girl for my fellas) for the first time that you've been admiring only from afar, or when u have to make a speech, or perform in some way... you know, u feel nervous. U wouldn't be human if you didn't. I know for me when I'm nervous I joke ALOT!". Read more here.

> Alicia Keys posted a new message on her official website on Wednesday now that's she's back home in New York. "It's good to be home, lemme rephrase... It's GREAT to be home! It's like coming back into my own skin," Keys said. "Seeing the places I've always seen. The streets I've always walked, the faces I've missed so much. It's an amazing realization! I'd like to think I'm a woman of the world, in the sense that everywhere I've been blessed to go this year, I feel like it has become a part of me. It has been molded somehow into my heart and engraved in my memory. The whole time I was overseas, I was simply just living in the moment; enjoying it as much as a could, wanting to take in all that I could, knowing that if, God forbid, the world ended, I could go knowing that I didn't go half ass, knowing that I did all I was able to." > Alicia checked in on her official website from Africa. She writes, "Europe was amazing to me, it is a time I will never in all of my life forget. I'm so happy to have met so many of you and at least if not personally seen your faces, at least been able to put a familiar country and city to all the places you post from. Thank you for welcoming me, for showing me so much! Now I'm in Africa, it is beautiful here! The mountains and the ocean are so close, the blue waters are a combination of the Indian and the Atlantic and there is so much history, so much to learn, so much to decipher through. So much to observe. The people here are very kind, very generous, giving people. I'm here for World AIDS Day, to help spread the word, that this is something we can deal with, something that if we really stand together and discuss and don't hide, than we can turn these extremely mind boggling circumstances around." > Currently touring Europe on the wave of success that saw her sweep the board at the Grammys and sell her debut album 'Songs In A Minor' around the world, Alicia Keys releases 'Girlfriend' in the UK on November 25. The video was shot on location in East London and finds Alicia struggling to accept her man's relationship with a female friend and delivering a moody classical piano performance out of the blue. When her current tour finishes in December, Alicia will be heading home to put in some work on her second album and develop a film for Disney in which she will co-star. Alicia's acting predates her singing career and she has been approached for various roles since breaking through last year, including the Joel Schumacher remake of A Star Is Born, which stars Will Smith. Keys, who is currently touring the UK, has been secretly dating her boyfriend for several months, but is adamant her private life will remain behind closed doors. Alicia says, "I do have a very, very special man and he's been in my life for a while."The New Yorker admits she was always afraid of commitment, until she met her Mr Right. She says, "There was something about wondering that was very attractive. I always thought I was much better to keep it that way than spoil it and just find out." "It just really messes things up so in the past I would rather just kind of admire from a distance - if at all - than get myself involved with somebody. Now that's all changed."

Keys described her Halloween saying, "We decided to have some fun, so everybody gets dressed up, masks, make-up, fake blood, cobwebs, spiders, skeleton hands, the whole bit and we all do a crazy version of 'Thriller', when all the dead folk were dancin in the street. Ohhhhh my goodness! Talk about funny, I was almost laughin' too hard to do it right. It was sooo much fun and Plymouth was rockin! If anybody gets pictures of that, I'm gonna die from laughter!" > Miss Keys struck a major chord with fans when she made her Welsh debut in Cardiff. The 22-year-old singer, who won a string of Grammy Awards for her debut album Songs in A Minor, kept the crowd of 5,000 at Cardiff International Arena enthralled with her soulful voice and her talent on the piano. Backed by a strong band or just playing solo on a grand piano, the young American style icon delivered the hits that have made her the newest soul star. Saving her biggest hit 'Fallin' until last, Alicia made sure that when the audience left they were in love with her voice and her cool, laid back style.

The young star looked stunning in gold pants, and a red hat with the word "LOVE" on a large gold necklace. The Irish crowd couldn't help "falling in love" with the star as she belted out tracks from her album, Songs in a Minor. I have six photos from Dublin, click here.

> Alicia Keys is to make her film debut in an as yet untitled Disney film! The American singer shot to fame with the ballad Fallin' last year. "It's an untitled project," her manager Jeff Robinson told MTV.com. "It's a tearjerker. A little bit of Sparkle, a little bit of Lady Sings the Blues. She's a natural for the camera. A lot of people don't know that she's been acting longer than she's been doing music. Her mother is an actress."Robinson will be the producer on the film, which he says he has also written. There has been speculation that Keys would appear in a remake of A Star is Born opposite Will Smith. But Robinson says the singer has not taken up the invitation. "She was asked to do it," said Robinson. "But her first movie shouldn't be a movie where she's basically playing herself. I don't think that's real acting, playing yourself. I think her first film should be a little more challenging, a little bit more dramatic. A smaller role, then she grows into a starring role."
> My site has been chosen as Mtv's Official Fansite Of The Week!! Yay! I'm so happy! :) This is the short description: "Roxana, the webmistress of this fansite, is a true genius. > Entertainment Weekly has an article predicting where artists will be in 30 years: Alicia Keys in 2008, after undergoing what she calls a ''spiritual awakening'' upon hearing Pharoah Sanders' 1969 free jazz album ''Karma,'' Keys shocks the R&B community by picking up a tenor sax and releasing a three-CD instrumental album, ''Creating a New Master Plan,'' produced by Wynton Marsalis. After being dropped by her record company two years later, she continues putting out instrumental jazz albums on a series of increasingly tinier indie labels. In 2018, she places second on Downbeat's poll of saxophone players, an achievement she calls ''the greatest honor of my life.''
> Alyssa Vitrano of YM.com caught up with Christina Aguilera and asked the singer what it was like to record 'Impossible' with Alicia Keys. "Good. That song's got an old-school feel to it," she said. "Alicia sang some backgrounds with me. We also did a talking-back-and-forth thing before the song even started. I wanted every song to have the feeling like you're in the studio with me. There are a lot of interludes with talking, and there's some hidden stuff on there that's funny. We have so much goofing off on this record — I swear, people have never seen this side of me; it's just stupid."

> Review of Alicia Keys at Manchester Evening News Arena: "When soul divas draw on the classics, that usually means Aretha Franklin or Gladys Knight. In Alicia Keys case, she is as likely to slip into a little Beethoven. Or, as she once said: "I love Chopin. He's my dawg". A namecheck which no doubt has Fred C breakdancing in his grave. But Keys is undoubtedly a prodigy: a classically trained pianist, yet a member of the first generation to actually grow up with hip hop. She has a creative capacity to match (and often imitate) Stevie Wonder in his prime, and a voice with the street vibe of Mary J Blige". You can read more here. More Alicia concert's reviews: here and here.
> P. Diddy and Michelle Branch to the long list of NMC eCharting artists performing at the pair of World AIDS Day concerts next month. You can expect Diddy at the Nov. 23 show at Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa, there he'll be sharing the bill with Alicia Keys. > Alicia Keys kicks off her first UK tour tonight (Wednesday) at Nottingham Arena. She's been here a few times this year, picking up the MOBO earlier this month for Best Album. There are still a few tickets left for the gig tonight - Alicia says she looking forward to 'doing' the UK: "I get excited, I get very excited, but I love to perform. Performing is one of my all-time favourites. So I'm just excited and ready to have a good time. I've just finished my American side, and it's so great, so I can't want to come out here and do it."

October 22, 2002
> Smash Hits asked *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake whether he was planning to do a duet with Alicia Keys. "Nothing has been planned so far," he said. "We've actually written stuff together and we've been vibing a little bit in the studio. Hopefully one day it will work out - it just has to be the right song." Asked who his dream duet partner would be, Timberlake said, "Stevie Wonder would be a great one."

> The 11th edition of the Now That's What I Call Music! compilation series has a little bit of everything: Gangsta Lovin', Love at First Sight and a little taste of the old Objection Tango. The 20-track album, due out November 19, features hit tracks from Nelly, Eve featuring Alicia Keys, Beenie Man, Kylie Minogue, Bon Jovi, Coldplay and Vanessa Carlton. Here's tracklist.
> This is the short article about Alicia from the newest issue of Vanity Fair Magazine: "Singer, beat master, writer, producer - Alicia Keys wears many hats, both figuratively and literally. A classically trained pianist, she infuses her music with soul and funk and R&B; stunning enough to be styled like a pop confection, she sticks to her idiosyncratic street-chic style. Before she was out of her teens, she had signed on with and then left two very different institutions both named Columbia - the Ivy League university and the record label. Too busy with music to stay enrolled at the former, too independent to be happy at the latter ( she cites "creative differences" ), Keys found her way to Clive Davis' J Records in 1999 and soon achieved platinum-record super-stardom with her first release, Songs in A Minor. That album, which put her at the forefront of the so-called neo-soul movement, earned Keys five Grammys in 2001. She's currently bringing her manifold skills to bear on recording her second album, which is due out sometime in 2003."

> There she was in Beethoven's adopted hometown, thrumming away at his masterpiece "Moonlight Sonata." Her sequined cream composer's coat was draped regally over her piano stool. Her fingers moved like they were splashing through water. Her eyes were squinted shut in rapture. It's no wonder Alicia Keys looked so at home in Vienna on Friday. She may be a New York City girl all the way, but that night the classically trained pianist stomped the ground of her musical roots and relished in it. Read more.

> Alicia posted a new message from Switzerland on her diary at her official site today, here's what she said: Whats goin on??? how you feelin? Hope all is well, and the day is shining bright in your heart. I'm feeling pretty good. slept like a log today!:-) first day off in a little while. Just Came back from London a coupla days ago and the video went sooo well!! I can't WAIT to see the first edit, oh my GOODNESS!!! It's serious!!! I won't even talk about it, imma just let you see it and feel it with me! Ive been walking amongst ya'll or should I say "surfing" amongst yall and I know that many people want to know why it's not going to be released in the states. > The soundtrack for the upcoming movie "Drumline", due December 10, according to Jive Records will include Alicia Keys, JC Chasez, Monica, Petey Pablo and Jive newcomer Nivea, who was featured on Mystikal's "Danger (Been So Long)."
> "The adjective atypical fits Alicia Keys as perfectly as her low-rise, hip hugging jeans. With her corn-rowed hair, enormous talent and complex persona, she has become the most talked-about debut artists since Whitney Houston emerged in the 1980's. And she is not your average early-20's artist. It is not typical for a new artist to sell 10 million copies of her first CD, to prefer Bohemian, retro ensembles over glitz, to win five Grammy Awards the first time out, to prefer to drive her pre-success car or take the train rather than ride in a limo, to infuse soulful R&B with classical piano, to question authority and political views, and so on. Cute as she is, Alicia Keys is nobody's baby doll. She is her own woman, always has been. Having grown up in New York's Hell's Kitchen and studied classical piano at a perfomring arts high school, she is streetwise and music smart. AT 16, while a student at Columbia University, she insisted that the record company she had signed to let her produce her own album. She later got out of the deal when they couldn't agree on the music and the image. And unlike some celebrities of biracial parentage, Keys does not shy away from her Blackness and her soulfullness. She is a Sister and proud of it. Equally interesting is that she's taking her success in stride. She shuns the bling-bling lifstyle, though she has confessed to having a fetish for expensive footwear. What is most fascinating to some is that while quesions about her love life abound, this talented free spirit keeps her personal life private while enjoying her relationship with her long-time beau. She says: 'I like to be low and easy and regular.'" --Ebony November 2002

> Lil' Kim chatted with Rolling Stone magazine for their Women In Rock issue, and was asked which female musician she admired and why. "I admire Alicia Keys -- for her to be so young and have an old soul, she reminds me of myself," she said. "And she's a genius -- she plays instruments, she knows exactly what she wants out of this game, she knows exactly where she's going." Check out the entire interview here.

> Alicia Keys posted an update on her official website on Friday, where she assured fans she's doing all better now after cancelling a show in Amsterdam last week because of vocal problems. Keys said, "Since then, Ive been 100% better! We've been having CRAZY shows in Germany! We've been to Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Berlin. In Berlin it was Unification Day and I was proud to be there, doing a show that day. It really made it special! After the show I went to see the part of the Berlin wall that is still standing, and it was truly amazing to witness it first hand. To know that this was something that I only heard about thru a box of images, and to see it up close, and feeling the history that it represented, really made the fact the it was Unification Day that much more poignant. There's so much we take for granted." Read more.

> Alicia Keys says the pressure she's under to be sexy makes her sick, reports Ananova.com. The Fallin' singer says she is constantly fighting with her stylists over the clothes they try to make her wear. And she says it's a shame people put appearance before talent. "The amount of pressure I'm under to look good and to be an object of desire is really sickening. 'I fight against it by saying, 'I won't wear that,' and, 'No, I won't do that.' "And I'll probably have to keep doing this because people try to make you into what they want you to be.'' Keys readily admits her appearance has had a role in her huge success. "If I weighed 23 stone and just had a tuft of hair on the right side of my head, then people probably wouldn't be as willing to listen to what I have to say.''

> I got a letter from Maurice, he wrote: "I just wanna say the concert Alicia Keys gave on Sept. 26th in Amsterdam was coooooool!!! But her concert 27th in Amsterdam was cancelled!!! Alicia wrote to all her fans this short letter:
"My family in Amsterdam. I'm terribly sorry about tonite! We had such a wonderful time last nite. I was sooo looking forward to the show... You must have worn me out cuz when I woke up my voice was burning. The doctor said my vocal chords are inflamed & I will be fine, but need to rest! Thanks for understanding. Always, Alicia Keys". Thx Maurice!
> Keys posted two new messages on her official diary:"I had to cancel the show!! :( I'm sittin here miserable. I would so rather be with ya'll singing the songs and laughing and dancing and partyin'!!!! I'm sooo heated!!! okokokokokokok enuf complaining, lemme tell you..... It was the weirdest thing the show last nite was off the chain. after 'fallin' was over and I was on my way upstairs I felt alittle something funny with my voice. I didn't think it was a big deal cause sometimes after a show and all the heat and excitement my voice feels alittle tired, but nothing that alittle rest can't fix. so I assumed that's exactly what it was and I went back to the hotel anticipating a restful sleep and being a hundred percent tomm". Oh this is so bad :( Read more here.

The singer, who has just completed a sell-out tour of the US and is currently performing in Europe, is determined to take time off after working non-stop for the past two years, first recording and then promoting her smash-hit album "Songs in A Minor." As part of her extended break, Keys is also planning to write songs for her second album.

> Eve, who is 23 years old, happens to be a bit too young to remember the song Alicia Keys interpolates for their joint record "Gangsta Lovin'," For the "Gangsta Lovin'" chorus, Keys sings a few lines from the Yarbrough & Peoples' song "Don't Stop The Music" that reached Number One in 1980, some 22 years ago. But Eve said "Don't Stop The Music," which was also sampled on P. Diddy's "Don't Stop What You're Doing" for his 1997 album No Way Out, was before her time. "I really don't remember that," Eve told Launch. "Not at all."

> Alicia shared her thoughts on the anniversary of September 11, 2001 to Radio 1. "I think in some senses people are a little shocked that it's been a year already," she said. "And another sense, you know, the vibe is definitely unified and good... tryin' to bring up good memories and the good side of what happened on September 11, and how it united us as a people I think... so. The energy is very good, and I'm happy that it's that way."
> Miss Keys checked in with fans on her official site's diary on Tuesday Sept. 10. Alicia writes, "I've been thinking bout some things, and how sometimes things happen in life that we don't quite expect, or that we thought would happen differently, or that maybe we wished NEVER happened at all, and how many times have you beatin' yourself up inside, over something you wish you never said or you wish never happened. But I've been thinking, and I realize that all those experiences are just lessons that we needed to learn, lessons sent to us to help us find ourselves and how we would handle the same situation when it comes around again to test us. As I was thinking I realized that the beauty of life is being able to wake up every morning, blessed with the gift of one more day, one more day to try again, to right a wrong, to say something that we've always been meaning to say, do something weve always meant to do. And once we can accept that we are human, and that we dont know it all, but that our search to find, and become better is a constant process, a constant stuggle, a constant lesson, then we can find the comfort in the future, because how wise we are ALL destined to become."
